The Air Transport Association says that
domestic US airline operations for its member carriers are running as
smoothly as any other summer day and encourages customers to continue
with their travel plans.“In light of the new security regulations, the airlines, government and
airports have taken extraordinary steps to ensure that our customers fly
safely and get to their destinations as scheduled,” said ATA President
and CEO James C. May. “As a result, customers are getting through the
security checkpoints quickly and, with few exceptions, operations are
running on time. I can think of no better time to fly.”

May also stated that carriers have been adding staff to accommodate the
increased volume of checked baggage but still urged customers to allow a
little extra time at the airport.
