Wyoming wins web award

Wyoming Travel and Tourism’s has picked up an award for its email marketing program as well as reporting a ten-fold increase in visitor traffic to its Wyoming travel web site.
The ‘Wyoming Round Up e-Zine’ recently won ‘Best Travel Online Newsletter Campaign’ at the 2006 Internet Advertising Awards.

The company has also reported an increase in web usage by prospective visitors. In the last 12 months, visitation to the official Wyoming travel web site has grown almost ten-fold - from 25,013 ‘visits’ (or ‘user sessions’) in March 2005 to 227,451 ‘visits’ in March 2006 - see graph on the next page. In addition, the associated ‘Wyoming Round-up E-Zine’ travel email newsletter now reaches 46,000 subscribers across the US (and some well beyond).

“We are excited about receiving these awards but even more pleased with the almost ten-fold increase in web site visitors,” said Diane Shober, director of Wyoming Travel and Tourism. She continued, “The Wyoming legislature appropriated additional monies for increased marketing programs which enabled us to fund this project and update our web site.”

Working with its online publishing agency, Miles Media, Wyoming Travel and Tourism completely re-designed and re-launched the State’s official visitor web site in August 2005 and added an email marketing program - ‘The Wyoming Round-up E-Zine’ newsletter.

In addition to the nearly ten-fold increase in web site traffic, the length of time that each visitor spends on the Wyoming Travel and Tourism web site is up 60% in the last year to an average of almost 9 minutes per session.
