SITA partners with SAMART

SITA has signed a strategic reseller
agreement with SAMART Comtech (SAMART) to provide IT solutions to the
growing airport market in Thailand.“The Value Added Reseller Agreement with SAMART marks a significant step for
SITA’s further entry into the mass airport market in Thailand,” said Bruno
Frentzel, SITA Senior Vice President for Sales & Distribution, at the contract
signing ceremony in Bangkok.

“With SAMART’s profound knowledge and experience in the industry, we are
confident that they are the best possible partner to deploy SITA’s advanced
technologies to help airports simplify travel and transportation and improve the
passenger experience”, he said.

SAMART Comtech Co. Ltd is a subsidiary of the SAMART Group specialising in
Information Technology System Integration.  Upon signing the agreement, SAMART has
the sole rights to resell SITA’s airport products in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
The company will become SITA’s certified partner and will deal face-to-face with
the airports concerned, bringing in local expertise and providing on-site support
and maintenance.

SITA products and services under the agreement includes market-leading shared use IT
applications for passenger and baggage processing such as AirportConnect CUTE,
AirportConnect Kiosk, BagManager and BagMessage. These will be offered on an
Applications Service Provider-basis which will reduce the total cost of ownership to
the airports, according to Frentzel. SITA will also provide SAMART with training,
full remote support and help build the competencies necessary for their staff to
work with SITA’s products.

“Airports in Thailand today face increasing pressure to upgrade their IT
infrastructure, lower operational costs and optimise the use of their facilities.
To help our airport customers to achieve these goals and continue their success in
this challenging industry, we believe that the key is partnering with a global
solution provider like SITA,” said Charoenrath Vilailuck, SAMART Executive
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

“SAMART is delighted to be a pioneer in SITA’s Indirect Channel Program in this
region.  We chose SITA for their proven airport solutions, continuous technology
transfer and highest level of professional support,” he said.

This agreement represents a further strengthening of the relationship between the
two companies. SAMART is a member of the consortium Airports Systems Integration
Specialists (ASIS) (comprising SAMART, SIEMENS, ABB and SATYUM) to deliver one of
the largest ever common-use check-in solutions for the 50-million passenger capacity
at the New Bangkok International Airport (NBIA).

The project includes an initial implementation of over 600 SITA CUTE (Common-Use
Terminal Equipment) check-in workstations as well as SITA’s Common Language
Facility product, Passenger Handler.  Another 50 Common Use Self Service check-in
kiosks will also be provided when required as NBIA gears up for the doubling of
passenger traffic with the expected arrival of the Airbus A380.
