Five Bids for Olympic

The Greek government said last week that it has received bids from five parties interested in buying struggling state carrier Olympic Airlines. The fifth attempt at privatising the company since 1999 is seen as its last chance of survival in the increasingly competitive airline industry.

Greece’s Aegean Airlines and Intro, a firm run by the owner of German budget carrier DBA, are known to be among the bidders. Some media reports named the other parties as investment firms from Greece, the Netherlands and the UK.
