Construction Starts on Ireland’s First Deluxe Destination Spa

The Park Hotel Kenmare announced today that building has begun on SÌ?MAS, its deluxe destination spa due to open in October 2003.

As the translation from the Irish language implies, SçMAS is a pure indulgence of the senses. Located beside the hotel on a little wooded knoll, the design of SçMAS takes full advantage of it superb location overlooking the water at Kenmare Bay.
The design team on this significant project brings Oppermann Architects together with spa consultants E’SPA, the company responsible for spas at Sandy Lane, Burj Al Arab, and the Mandarin Oriental in London and Miami.

Claims are that SçMAS is set to be a world-class spa, quite unlike any other in Ireland. Within its separate male and female facilities, both areas are equipped with: Heat Experience Room with Crystal Steam, Shower Temple, Sauna, Ice Fountain, a glass-walled Relaxation Room with Terrace overlooking the woods and water, access to the 25 sq-ft Outdoor Vitality Pool and six sound proofed Treatment Rooms, each designed for a range of holistic treatments. In addition, there is a Beauty Suite, Tai-Chi Pavilion with Terrace and a Fitness Gym. For couples wishing to experience total serenity there are two Deluxe Treatment Suites, each with double treatment area, relaxation level and a private garden with Spa Pool.

Speaking about the development, GM of the Park Hotel Kenmare, John Brennan, said “SçMAS is a true relaxation spa, a place to revive the body and mind in a dedicated facility with a single focus, the well-being of our guests. SçMAS is a wonderful development for us as it complements the services of the Park Hotel Kenmare perfectly. It is the first of its kind in Ireland and will attract new business for Ireland. It is a great challenge which we all look forward to”.
