Galileo Fees Increase

An average 6% rise in booking fees for its airline customers from 1st January 2001 has been announced by Galileo International.
A segment cancel fee is to be introduced in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia/Pacific and Latin America and a ticketed segment fee for customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico will also come into effect.
Galileo’s Premium Services such as Positive Acknowledgement, Inside Availability and Marriage Logic will remain at 1997 levels.
It appears the increases have been justified by increased solutions developments and initiatives, primarily through Galileo’s Quantitude subsidiary.
Last month Galileo’s board of directors authorised management to “explore strategic alternatives designed to maximise shareholder value”.
