Bahamas bound flight diverted to North Carolina

A US Airways flight carrying 146 passengers to the Bahamas was diverted to North Carolina on Sunday when an indicator light warned the pilot of low oil in one engine.

After Flight 550 took off from Philadelphia, the pilot of the Airbus A-321 noticed the oil light and landed the plane in Wilmington about 2 p.m., airline spokeswoman Deborah Thompson said.

“It was a normal landing. It wasn`t an emergency landing. It was just a diversion,” she said.
Passengers were scheduled to board another plane and leave for Nassau, Bahamas, later Sunday.
