Barclay to lead De Vere Tortworth Court

De Vere Tortworth Court has appointed Graeme Barclay as general manager, coinciding with the near completion of a £5 million refurbishment that places the mansion back at the heart of the estate.

Barclay joins the De Vere Tortworth team with twenty years’ experience of working within the hospitality industry.

No stranger to Principal Hotel Company’s collection, he previously held the position of general manager at St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff, as well as the general manager role at Principal Edinburgh.

During his career he has worked with several hotel groups including Accor Hotels, Thistle Hotels, and Hanover International Hotels.

Barclay said: “I’m thrilled to join the team at De Vere Tortworth Court.

“With the conclusion of the property’s refurbishment in sight, with a refresh to the hotel’s signature restaurant and new bar to be completed early autumn, it’s a particularly exciting time to join.

“De Vere Tortworth Court is one of the portfolio’s most beautiful and historical properties and I am looking forward to being a part of its next chapter.”

One of Gloucestershire’s hidden countryside retreats, De Vere Tortworth Court’s Grade II listed Victorian mansion is part of the De Vere portfolio of country estate hotels and modern, market-leading event spaces.

The renovation created some of the largest suites in the county including 11 new spacious suites, bringing the total number of guestrooms and suites in the main house to 55.

The sensitive refurbishment has preserved many of the original features, while adding new touches of modern countryside charm to the grand gothic mansion, including the hotel’s impressive staircase and galleries above the newly refurbished reception and public areas.
