Barbados Tourism Authority appoints new Chairman

Minister of Tourism Hon. Richard Sealy has announced that the Barbados Tourism Authority has a new Chairman, Adrian Elcock. Adrian Elcock

Elcock, 41, is a director of The Elcock Group of Companies, a fifty year-old family business headed by his father. He replaces Ralph Taylor, President and CEO of Almond Resorts Inc. who served as the BTA chairman for the past three years.

Elcock was educated at the Lodge School in Barbados and received his college education at Pace University, New York, from which he graduated with a degree in accounting, majoring in public accounting. He has also served as Deputy Chairman of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre the main Conference Center in Barbados.

Speaking about his appointment, the new Chairman said: “I would like first of all to acknowledge the wisdom and dedication of the previous Chairman in leading us all through some very challenging times. We are now well positioned for the future.”

He also confirmed that he wanted to take further steps in the right direction through engaging in more targeted dialogue with Barbadians and visitors alike; having a more creative and informed use of social media; and, undertaking a more focused continuation of the process of standardizing the Barbados product.

The successful businessman heads Exclusive Lighting & Electrical Supplies Ltd, a division of The Elcock Group of Companies. A devoted family man, he is married to Ann and they have a daughter, Sanaa.
