Online review behemoth TripAdvisor has been fined €500,000 by authorities in Italy after having been found to have published misleading reviews on its website. The site, which claims to be the largest travel domain the world, denies the accusations.

Trading Standards has confirmed a hotel which charged guests an additional £100 following a bad review on TripAdvisor will issue no further fines. TripAdvisor has announced the launch of Instant Reservation, a feature that, by leveraging the recent acquisition of lafourchette, allows consumers to choose a restaurant and easily complete the reservation without leaving the TripAdvisor site experience. Instant Reservation is currently available on the over 13,000 restaurants within the lafourchette network spanning France, Spain, Switzerland and Belgium.
