World Golf Awards delegates welcomed to Bovino, Quinta do Lago
Celebrations surrounding the World Golf Awards got off to a glamorous start earlier with more than 100 delegates welcomed to Bovino Steakhouse at Quinta do Lago. The event was the beginning of three days of golf, networking and fine dining as part of the World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony 2015. The awards will be presented on Saturday evening at the luxurious Conrad Algarve.

IAGTO to work with Brand USA to boost golf tourism
Brand USA – the destination-marketing organization for the United States – is partnering with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators to raise the profile of American golf-related tourism among global travellers. IAGTO, headquartered in London, is an advocate for nearly 600 golf tour operators in 61 countries. It also works with a network of close to 2,400 association members in 99 countries that are tied to golf tourism in order to develop optimal golfing experiences at golf destinations around the world.

Accor Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship set for Danang
After 20 years of staging successful World Masters tournaments in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand, Go Golfing has partnered with Golfasian to host the inaugural Accor Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship in Danang from September 6th-12th 2015. World Masters Tournaments are open to club golfers aged 35 years and over, with competition offered in age and handicap divisions.

Golf Tourism England, the recently-formed body charged with generating more visitor income for English golf courses from tourism, has announced the formation of a strategic partnership with England Golf. The agreement signals England Golf’s support for the membership body, which intends to unite the stakeholders within golf tourism in one of the sport’s most developed markets.

Hilton signs sponsorship deal with golfer Tyrrell Hatton
Hilton Worldwide, the world’s largest hospitality company, has announced a sponsorship deal with young UK golfer Tyrrell Hatton. During his rookie year on the European Tour in 2014, Tyrrell produced one of the best ever debut seasons earning €850,000 in prize money with five top ten finishes. Most notably he challenged at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where he finished in a very impressive sixth place.
Great Lakes begins preparations for Ryder Cup 2016
The Great Lakes is getting ready to once again welcome one of the world’s greatest team sporting events. Minnesota will be home to the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska in the Minnesota River Valley from September 27th to October 2nd 2016. Hazeltine was founded by former president of the United States Golf Association Totten Heffelfinger.

Gleneagles unveils hotel renovation plans
The Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, is to invest £1.1million in refurbishing its bedrooms, as part of an ongoing programme of upgrades. In the coming months, 36 of the five star hotel’s 232 bedrooms will be given a new look by designers Greyline, who were responsible for the redesign of an additional 36 rooms, completed in 2014. The current improvements will include bespoke carpets from Wilton Carpets; a collection of the finest soft furnishings and wall coverings from companies including Osborne & Little and Harlequin, and designer light fittings from Heathfield.
