Finnair launches new Dublin flights as part of European capacity expansion
In line with its growth strategy, Finnair has announced that it will be adding capacity between and Ireland and Finland across the 2017 winter and summer seasons. Due to high demand, Finnair will add an additional weekly frequency between Dublin and Helsinki for the winter 2017 season.

Finnair appoints new leadership in western Europe
Finnair has announced its new general manager for UK, Ireland and Benelux, reinforcing the airline’s management team in the countries. Based in London, Andrew Fish oversees sales and marketing teams across the region, including the strategically important gateways of London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brussels and Amsterdam.

Finnair signs up for Travelport Rich Content distribution
Travelport has announced a new full content agreement with Finnair, Finland’s largest airline and a member of the oneworld alliance. As part of the agreement, Finnair has also chosen to deploy Travelport’s Rich Content & Branding merchandising solution, making it the 200th airline to go live in the system.

Finnair adds new departure to Astana ahead of Expo 2017
Finnair has announced that it will add a new short-haul route to Astana, Kazakhstan for the summer 2017 season. The award-winning airline will operate two weekly flights between Helsinki and Astana, from June 20th until August 11th, with travellers from the UK able to take advantage of the new route to visit the 2017 World Expo which starts in the Kazakh capital in June 2017.

Finnair launches codeshare deal with Vietnam Airlines
Finnair and Vietnam Airlines are launching a new codeshare cooperation that will offer a wider choice of destinations and flight frequencies for customers in both Europe and Vietnam. With this new agreement, Finnair’s flight numbers will be added to Vietnam Airlines flights which operate out of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City connecting with Finnair’s flights to Helsinki from Bangkok and Singapore.

Iberia joins oneworld partners in Japanese joint business
Today Iberia will join Japan Airlines, British Airways and Finnair in their joint business between Europe and Japan. The joint business means that the four airlines will share revenue and cooperate on scheduling and pricing between Japan and Europe, providing customers with more flexible routing options and an attractive range of fares.

Finnair adds Asia capacity with new departures to Tokyo and Hong Kong
Finnair continues to grow its Asian traffic, and has announced it will add capacity and frequencies to the Tokyo and Hong Kong routes with the A350 for the summer 2017 season. Finnair will increase its current flight schedule between Helsinki and Tokyo with four additional weekly flights to Narita airport. Finnair currently operates daily to Narita with the A330.

Finnair to launch new route to San Francisco for summer 2017
In line with its growth strategy, Finnair has announced that it will open a new seasonal route from Helsinki to San Francisco in June 2017, operating three weekly flights between both cities from June 1st to September 30th. The flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Finnair signs with ViaSat with best in class internet
Finnair has signed an agreement with ViaSat, a global broadband services and technology company, to install a high-speed wireless internet network on its entire Airbus A320 series short-haul fleet flying in Europe. The installation of the Wi-Fi equipment will begin in May 2017, and will be completed by June 2018. With a connection speed of 12 Mbps or higher per passenger, the new system will offer the fastest in-flight internet connection currently available on the market, which will also enable the use of increasingly popular video streaming services.

Finnair to boost UK & Ireland connections for summer 2017
Finnair has announced that capacity between the UK and Ireland to Helsinki will increase for the summer 2017 season due to high demand. Edinburgh will be served by up to five weekly flights operated by a 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft in a dual business and economy class configuration.

Iberia gains Japanese anti-trust immunity alongside oneworld partners
Japan’s ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism has granted an extension of the anti-trust immunity to include Iberia in the joint business between Japan Airlines, British Airways and Finnair. The decision will allow the four airlines to cooperate commercially on flights between Europe and Japan. Iberia is expected to join the existing joint business between the other three airlines as from October 18th, 2016.

Finnair brings flag-ship Airbus A350XWB to London-Helsinki flights
Finnair has announced that it will operate the flagship Airbus A350XWB aircraft on a fifth service between London Heathrow and Helsinki, replacing the current Airbus A320 aircraft on the route. From October 5th, passengers travelling on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday on flights AY832 between London and Helsinki and AY831 between Helsinki and London will be able to enjoy long haul levels of comfort on the short flight of two hours and 55 minutes.
