Fairmont Hotels & Resorts today announced the official opening of three new properties along the ancient path of the silk road. Fairmont Nile City, in Cairo, Egypt; Fairmont Yangcheng Lake in Kunshan, China and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, all officially opened the doors to guests today.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is preparing to open its first hotel in China. The Fairmont Beijing, scheduled to officially open in the summer of 2009, is located in Yong An Li in the heart of Beijing’s downtown district.

HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates, designers of the new Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, are set to revive a second landmark heritage property on the city’s iconic Bund waterfront. The hospitality design consultancy has been appointed by Hilton Hotels Corporation to transform the former Shanghai Club at No. 2 The Bund into the Waldorf Astoria On The Bund Shanghai.
