Delta is collaborating with MIT on a quest to prevent persistent contrails, which are roughly 10% of all contrails and create long-standing clouds that trap heat and warm the earth. If successful, this work could drive significant progress quickly in reducing the climate impact of aviation by preventing the creation of persistent contrail formations altogether.

easyJet, Scotland’s largest airline, has today announced that it will introduce an additional aircraft to its Edinburgh base from next summer to serve customer demand from the Scottish capital meaning that from summer 2023 easyJet will base a total of nine aircraft at Edinburgh, operating on 39 routes across the UK, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Through its annual fundraising campaign with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), American Airlines raises nearly $2.5 million for innovative and life-saving cancer research. This donation is the largest single contribution the airline has made to SU2C since joining forces in 2016. Over its six-year collaboration, American has raised a total of $13.5 million to benefit SU2C and its mission to make every cancer patient a long-term survivor.

Frequent flyers will be able to take advantage of thousands more reward seats as Qantas and Jetstar celebrate the reopening of Japan for international travellers following years of COVID restrictions. Both airlines will make every Economy seat between Australia and Japan available as a Classic Flight Reward over a six-week period from 11 May to 20 June 2023.

Aer Lingus is to restart its daily service to Hartford, Connecticut, direct from Dublin, as the airline continues to rebuild and grow its transatlantic network. This follows the recent announcement of flights to Cleveland, Ohio, which is a brand new North American destination for Aer Lingus and will be part of its summer 2023 schedule.

Emirates has once again been recognised for its role in growing Maldives’ tourism industry. The world’s largest international airline has been presented with the ‘President’s Tourism Gold Award’ at an awards gala ceremony held on 3 October to mark National Tourism Day in the idyllic archipelago.
