Air Arabia Abu Dhabi adds Aleppo to its growing network in Syria
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the capital’s first budget airline, today announced the launch of non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi and the city of Aleppo, Syria. Starting 7 July 2026, the airline will operate three weekly flights connecting Zayed International Airport (AUH) with Aleppo International Airport (ALP), further expanding connectivity between the UAE and Syria and offering passengers a convenient and affordable travel option.
Lufthansa Technik breaks ground on new 55,000-square-meter facility in Portugal
This Monday, Lufthansa Technik marked a key milestone by officially breaking ground on its 55,000-square-meter facility in Santa Maria da Feira, south of Porto. Lufthansa Technik Portugal, founded in 2024, will create up to 700 new jobs in the aviation industry over the coming years. British Airways reopens Newcastle contact centre with £17 million investment
British Airways has opened its doors, and phonelines, to its refreshed Newcastle contact centre after a huge £17 million refurbishment, showing the airline’s long-term commitment to its presence the North East. Bamburgh Court is the largest of British Airways’ two UK-based contact centres, employing around 700 colleagues. The site plays a vital role in supporting BA customers across the globe.
British Airways and Porter Airlines announce new codeshare agreement
British Airways and Canadian carrier Porter Airlines have today announced a new codeshare agreement, providing British Airways customers with seamless access to travel on selected Porter Airlines domestic routes. British Airways customers will be able to book flights to 17 destinations in Canada including Ottawa, Edmonton and Winnipeg, connecting from the British Airways network when travelling to or from London via Toronto or Montreal. The codeshare partnership opens up a range of new routes in Canada for British Airways customers. In addition, members of the British Airways Club will be able to earn Avios and tier points when travelling on Porter Airlines flights, meaning even more opportunities for members to unlock benefits for flying.
Etihad takes off for Dhaka
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, launched its inaugural flight to Dhaka on 26 June, operating a sold-out B777 to the capital of Bangladesh. The route strengthens trade and cargo connectivity across the South Asia corridor and responds to sustained demand for both passenger travel and logistics between the UAE and Bangladesh.
