Qatar Airways has announced that London is the first route for the world’s first commercial service of its Airbus A350-1000. The Gulf carrier is the global launch customer for the state-of-the-art-aircraft, following delivery by Airbus from the aircraft manufacturer’s base in Toulouse, France last Tuesday.
Airbus has delivered the world’s first A350-1000 widebody airliner to launch customer Qatar Airways at a delivery event in Toulouse, France.
The A350-1000 has embarked on a three-week demonstration tour to the Middle-East and Asia-Pacific regions. The tour follows the completion of a successful flight test campaign, which lasted less than one year and culminated in joint EASA and FAA type certification.

Emirates today celebrates the milestone delivery of its 100th Airbus A380 aircraft at a special ceremony with Airbus at the manufacturer’s delivery centre in Hamburg. Emirates chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum officiated the ceremony.
The A350-1000, the newest member of Airbus’ leading wide-body family, has successfully completed its functional and reliability testing. The news brings the aircraft a step closer to type certification, which will hopefully be secured this month.
Qatar Airways has become the first airline to fly the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 to the Maldives. The airline has upgraded its current double-daily A330 service to an A350, with the first A350 beginning operations today and the second A350 service joining shortly afterwards on November 3rd.
Delta Air Lines has scheduled its flagship A350-900 aircraft on one of four daily flights between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. The new route will launch on March 31st next year.
United Airlines has increased the number of A350 XWB aircraft it will bring into its fleet, updating and expanding its previously existing order for 35 A350-1000 to 45 A350-900 widebody aircraft. The A350-900 is the cornerstone member of the A350XWB family from Airbus.
Hong Kong Airlines has taken delivery of its first A350-900, on lease from AerCap, making the carrier the 15th airline to operate the world’s newest and most efficient twin aisle airliner. Altogether Hong Kong Airlines will acquire 21 Airbus A350 XWB, including 15 purchased directly from Airbus and six on lease from third party lessors.
Delta will deploy its new Airbus A350 aircraft featuring the Delta One and Delta Premium Select cabins on its route between Atlanta and Seoul-Incheon beginning March 24th, 2018.
