Vueling plane forced into emergency landing at Schiphol
A plane operated by Spanish low-cost carrier Schiphol has been forced to make an emergency landing at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands are a security alert.
Dutch F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to accompany the plane down after an apparent high-jacking, which later turned out to be a false alarm.
Dutch forced boarded the plane once on the tarmac at Schiphol to discover the error.
A miscommunication between the pilot of the plane and the control tower reportedly triggered the confusion.
The airline said on Twitter: “Amsterdam’s protocol for security was activated owing to a temporary loss of communication between the plane and air traffic control.”
