The Celebrate Seychelles Events Department at the Tourism Board has launched their program for Tourism Week 2012.  From September 24-29, 2012, Seychelles will be celebrating Tourism Week, which will again this year, as has been the case in previous years, see several activities plan.

Seychelles remains one of the countries to answer the call by the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) to mark World Tourism Day, September 27. The island’s Minister responsible for Tourism has said publicly that Seychelles would be a hypocrite if it did not join with the Community of Nations to mark World Tourism Day, because the tourism islands of the Seychelles depend on tourism for their economy.

This year, Tourism Week celebrations will be a televised program on the new drive by the islands for sustainable tourism; they will see the signing of an MOU between the Tourism Board and the Seychelles National Parks Authority, which will confirm the good partnership between the two organizations. A nature walk has also been organized, as is a Tourism Fair and Workshop with trade partners.

On the 27th itself, Minister Alain St.Ange, the islands’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, will deliver an address for World Tourism Day on SBC (Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation), the national radio and TV stations of Seychelles.

Tourism Week will also see a special Sunset Cruise for Tourism Partners and visitors together as well as a special Clean Up The World Campaign Activity to ensure Seychelles maintains its appreciated exemplary level of cleanliness so talked about by visitors and press. The week will end on September 29 with the Annual Seychelles Ball. The event that has now taken its place on the islands’ calendar of events as the night when government, the tourism trade, and the islands’ business community all come together to say that |Seychelles believes in its tourism industry, the industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy.
