New Luxury Day Spa Opens On Hamilton Island

Spa wumurdaylin (pronounced “woo-mer-day-lin) is this week set to open on Australia’s Hamilton Island, part of the Whitsundays Islands. The name ‘wumurdaylin’, meaning Dragonfly, symbolises renewal, freedom and beauty. The new spa will be the island’s first full service day spa, complementing the world-class accommodation and facilities that can already be found on the islands.

With 11 treatment rooms, including three couples suites, the spa has been described as a ‘cocoon-like haven’ with décor inspired by the natural surrounds of the Whitsunday Islands. A full spa menu is offered with treatments including body cocoon wraps, exfoliations, facials, massages, body treatments, manicures and pedicures, as well as alternative therapies such as naturopath consultations and reiki treatments.

Designed by award-winning Sydney-based interior design company, Hare + Klein, over AU$750,000 has been spent on creating the new spa. This comes as the latest in a number of new investments on the island since the Oatley family’s purchase in 2003. Calming and luxurious interiors have been carefully chosen to embrace the tropical climate with locally sourced and natural materials used throughout. A key feature of the design is the use of one-way glass windows that invite the outdoors-in. Dragon motif wallpaper and Moroccan inspired light shades add a touch of glamour to the overall design.

“We have created a first-class spa experience for the pleasure of all our island guests and residents. We are thrilled to be increasing our wellness offering across the treatments rooms, spa menu and spa therapists. We anticipate that Spa wumurdaylin will become an integral part of our guests’ Hamilton Island experience,” says Jacqui Smith, manager of Spa wumurdaylin.
