Europeans create GBTA strategic KPI resource

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry—today announced the details of the launch of a Strategic KPI Resource Tool created by the Association.

The announcement was made by Caroline Strachan, GBTA Europe Advisory Board Chairman and Global Category Lead for Astra Zeneca, at the network’s annual conference with 300 delegates at the Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin, Noordwijk, near Amsterdam.

Talking about the resource, she said, “At our inaugural event last year there was so much interest in the creation of Strategic KPI’s and their measurement that we decided to take the output from the conference and create something tangible for buyers to use in the future.  On behalf of our members I would like to thank this respected group for sharing their time and expertise.”

Ms. Strachan personally thanked Torsten Kriedt, Vice President Innovation & Intelligence at Advito, Scott Gillespie from Gillespie’s Guide to Travel & Procurement, Nicolas Borel from opTmo and James Westgarth from SCS Corporate Travel (France) S.A.S for their dedication to the project.

The toolkit, which will be released to GBTA members in November, consists of a list of core questions and supporting metrics for establishing KPI’s and then some guidance on which metrics should be linked to programme goals.  This then takes the buyer to the next stage to create a Balanced Scorecard.  The toolkit also provides guidance notes for items within travel programmes that are not easily measured, such as risk management.

GBTA Europe’s managing director, Paul Tilstone, said, “We are announcing this now because the working group would like to invite GBTA’s buyers to engage and contribute their thoughts on the KPI and measurement priorities established by the group to date before the toolkit is finally launched.  This is an example of true industry collaboration at work”
