Dusit Thani Dubai in environmental focus
Dusit Thani Dubai celebrates a new record in its recycling collections as the hotel gears up for another silver EarthCheck certification.
The first quarter of 2012 has seen almost 18,000kg of waste recycled by the hotel, an increase of more than 50 per cent on what was recycled during the same period two years previous.
September saw the hotel being recognised for its high standard of environmental performance by EarthCheck, the world’s leading certifier of travel and tourism organisations, being awarded EarthCheck Silver Certification.
On receiving the award, EarthCheck CEO Stewart Moore explained: “Achieving certification is not an easy task and many organisations do not make it past the benchmarking stage. Securing a highly-ranked benchmarking result requires a strong commitment across all levels of an organization and the imbedding of sustainability principles into all policies and procedures.”
The hotel is gearing up for the certification process this year with expectations on securing EarthCheck’s Silver Certification for the second year running.

“Protecting our environment is a key concern for us at Dusit Thani Dubai and each and every colleague is actively involved in ensuring the hotel limits its impact. Recycling is just one of the areas we are focused on and through our efforts within the hotel and through our teams that go out into the local community we are making a difference.”
