Cathay Pacific Appoints General Manager Corporate Communication

Cathay Pacific Airways is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Wong as its General Manager Corporate Communication. In his new role Mr Wong will be responsible for all the internal and external corporate communications undertaken by Cathay Pacific worldwide.


Mr Wong joined Cathay Pacific as a management trainee after graduating from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in social sciences in 1973. He has since held a range of Executive positions within the airline and its parent the Swire Group in Hong Kong, Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Mainland China.

Since 1984 Mr Wong has worked as General Manager and Chief Representative in China for John Swire and Sons (China), Managing Director Swire Travel in Hong Kong, and Cathay Pacific`s General Manager Hong Kong & China.

Mr Wong has also held a number of chairmanships in travel-related organisations including the Society of IATA Passenger Agents, the International Cruise Council, and the Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents. He has also served on the boards of the Travel Industry Council, and the Board of Airline Representatives, and is currently a Director of the Travel and Tourism Educational Programme, and the Life Education Activity Programme (LEAP). Earlier this month Mr Wong was reelected to the HKSAR Legislative Council Election Committee.


Cathay Pacific`s Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen said: “We are pleased to welcome Alan as head of Cathay Pacific`s corporate communication department. His wide experience within the airline and the Swire Group and his wide network of contacts across Hong Kong and China will add a great deal to our existing team.”
