Anguilla Looks Forward To a New Kœ-dos

Striking just the right balance between the minimalist cool of South Beach and the relaxed sophistication of St. Barts - with a generous dose of fun as defined by today’s most stylish travellers, 27-suite Kœ is a spirited newcomer on Anguilla, located on exquisite Shoal Bay East beach. Scheduled to open on October 15, 2005, it is a project of the same accomplished team who have guided nearby Cap Juluca to its #1 ranking among Caribbean hotels. A luxury hybrid, Kœ brings a fresh and unique approach to the island, combining sophisticated sensibility with surprising affordability.Kœ, which means “sacred place” in the Arawak Indian language, is located close to Fountain Cave, one of the most important Indian ceremonial sites in the Eastern Caribbean. The peace-loving Arawaks surely would have approved of the thoughtful consideration that went into designing every aspect of the hotel, from the physical space to the more elusive “fun” quotient.

Housed in five white buildings, the 775-square-foot air-conditioned suites feature an oceanfront or ocean view balcony, dining and living room with pullout couch, full kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. White and pale aqua walls and white tile floors form an understated backdrop for white furnishings and fabrics, with oversized colorful pillows as accents. All suites have a television, radio, DVD and CD player, ceiling fans and safe.

On-site there is a restaurant, beachfront pool, boutique, provisions shop, a “petit” spa, gym and dive center. Excellent snorkeling and diving is found a swim away from the talcum powder white sand beach or a little further afield.

Kœ is distinguished by spaces that will naturally become gathering spots for visitors and guests alike, including a 75-foot beachfront bar, the longest on the island and accessible from both the beach and the hotel side. Live music several times a week will be conducive to dancing under the stars. French-influenced Caribbean cuisine will be featured in the restaurant, which will be open for continental breakfast, lunch and dinner.

From Oct. 15-Dec. 16, 2005, “Celebration Opening” daily rates based on double occupancy per suite range from US$135-$175. From Dec. 17, 2005-March 31, 2006 and April 1-Dec. 14, 2006, rates range from $295-$395 and $160-$200, respectively.
