Costa Rica: Monteverde unveils the country’s first-ever glass suspension bridge

Costa Rica has added a striking new experience to its adventure tourism offering with the opening of the country’s first-ever glass suspension bridge in the cloud forests of Monteverde.

Located within Treetopia Park’s renowned Sky Walk circuit, the new Glass Bridge allows visitors to walk above the forest canopy on a transparent surface, offering uninterrupted views directly down into one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse ecosystems.

Stretching 42 metres in length and rising up to 20 metres above the forest floor, the bridge is suspended from two main steel cables. The structure forms part of Treetopia Park’s Sky Walk trail, which includes six suspension bridges woven through approximately 1.7 miles of forest trails.

For travellers, the attraction offers an entirely different perspective on the cloud forest. The structure combines innovative design with panoramic views below, creating a unique experience for visitors seeking a new way to connect with Costa Rica’s nature.

The new bridge is included within the standard Sky Walk admission, allowing visitors to experience Costa Rica’s latest tourism attraction as part of a broader adventure itinerary that may also include ziplining, cableway rides and forest trails.

The opening coincides with further efforts to protect Monteverde’s fragile cloud forest ecosystem: the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve has recently introduced a new timed-entry reservation system, requiring visitors to book entry slots online in advance.

Designed to manage visitor numbers, reduce pressure on trails and minimise disturbances to wildlife, the initiative reflects Costa Rica’s longstanding commitment to balancing tourism growth with environmental conservation.
