Sabre Adds New Leisure Hotels Properties to its GDS

Sabre Travel Network has signed an agreement with Otedis. The agreement adds 600 hotels to the 70,000 already bookable through the Sabre global distribution system (GDS).  Sabre Connected travel agents worldwide will be able to book the new hotel properties from mid-July.
Many of these properties have not previously been represented on a GDS and could only be booked on the telephone, via the Otedis website or through other on-line channels.

Business and leisure travellers who use the GetThere and Travelocity online booking systems will also be able to book the new hotels.

The agreement is part of Sabre Travel Network’s drive to expand the range of leisure products bookable in its GDS. It follows a deal with hotel consolidator Conferma, announced in February this year, in which merchant rates for 10,000 hotels were made available to Sabre Connected travel agencies.

Pierre Matuchet, CEO of Otedis.com, said:  “Our goal is to expand the distribution channels for our hotels and Sabre Travel Network was the obvious GDS to work with.  Sabre’s strength in every distribution channel makes it the most attractive offering for us, enabling our previously non GDS hotel properties to achieve a global presence.”

Last year Sabre saw a 22 percent year-on-year increase in UK hotel bookings, and a 21 percent increase across the whole of Europe.

“This is a classic example of Sabre using its strong ownership presence in every channel of travel sales and distribution to negotiate additional rates and content for its travel agency customers,” said David Brown, Sabre Travel Network’s vice president of travel commerce for Europe. “Not only does this agreement enable us to expand the leisure content bookable in the GDS, it also gives GetThere and Travelocity customers access to more hotels.”
