Change of leadership at United
United Continental Holdings has announced Greg Hart will be named executive vice president and chief operations officer, succeeding Pete McDonald, who is retiring after nearly 45 years with United. In his new position, Hart will be responsible for airport operations, cargo, technical operations, network operations, flight operations, inflight service, safety and food services at the airline.
United Airlines to boosts transatlantic flights
United Airlines has announced that it will strengthen its service between London/Heathrow and New York/Newark in 2014 by operating all its five daily flights on the route with widebody aircraft during the summer peak season, nearly doubling the number of flat-bed seats offered on upgraded flights. The move will increase overall capacity by five per cent year-on-year during the April-September period.

United Airlines is celebrating the fifth anniversary of non-stop service between Dubai and its Washington/Dulles hub with a series of activities in the United Arab Emirates. United senior vice president sales, Dave Hilfman, and Jim Mueller, vice president Atlantic and Pacific sales, will host a number of events in Dubai for UAE customers and business partners including an anniversary reception, a golf tournament and a culinary demonstration by United Congress of Chefs member James Canora.

United Airlines has announced refreshed applications for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry 10 that include streamlined user interfaces along with a new feature, also available on Windows Phone 8, which will enable customers to manage their travel in real time during irregular flight operations.
United places order for Airbus A350-1000 aircraft
United has placed an order with Airbus for new A350-1000 aircraft. The agreement converts United’s existing order for 25 A350-900s into A350-1000s and adds 10 firm orders for A350-1000s, giving the airline a total order of 35 aircraft.
