United Airlines today introduced its first aircraft equipped with flat-bed seats in a revamped premium cabin, all-new interiors, personal on-demand entertainment, Wi-Fi connectivity, in-seat power and USB ports on its transcontinental “p.s.” Premium Service. United flight 651, the first flight with the completely new cabin experience, departed Los Angeles International Airport this morning to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

United Airlines launches new baggage delivery service
United Airlines today launched a new baggage delivery option, enabling customers to have their checked bags delivered directly to their final destinations – within 100 miles of their arrival airports – and skip baggage claim upon arrival. Baggage delivery by BagsVIP will initially be available to customers departing from any domestic airport and arriving in Boston, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles and Orlando. The airline plans to expand the service to more than 190 domestic airports in the coming months.

United Airlines has introduced onboard satellite-based Wi-Fi internet connectivity on the first of its international widebody aircraft, becoming the first U.S.-based international carrier to offer customers the ability to stay connected while traveling on long-haul overseas routes.

United Airlines has unveiled its new United Club lounge in Terminal 2 at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, the first to feature a new design prototype that the airline will use when building and renovating lounges worldwide. United Airlines has launched a new turn-down service for customers seated in United Global First, offering travelers an added touch of luxury and a better sleeping experience on long-haul flights. Customers may enjoy a new sleeping cushion with a 250-thread-count outer cover in addition to the standard plush duvet, soft pillows and Philosophy-brand amenity kit.

United Airlines has successfully completed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification process for its 787 Dreamliner. United can now begin flying the Dreamliner for passenger service, beginning with its inaugural 787 commercial flight departing Houston for Chicago today

Boeing and United Airlines have announced the delivery of the airline’s first 787 Dreamliner. United is the first airline in North America to take delivery of the 787. Jeff Smisek, president and chief executive of United, said: “As the North American launch customer, we are delighted to be getting our first 787 Dreamliner.”

Computer glitch grounds United Airlines
A major computer glitch saw United Airlines grounded for two hours earlier as the carrier struggles to integrate systems with merger partner Continental Airlines. Reservations systems at the giant carrier collapsed, leaving queues of angry passengers at airports.
United expands on Dreamliner plans
United Airlines has announced the first international routes for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In addition to the previously-announced service from its Denver hub to Tokyo Narita, starting March 31st, 2013, the airline will operate non-stop 787 service five days a week between its Houston hub and Lagos, Nigeria, beginning January 7th next year.
United to fly Dreamliner on London route
United has confirmed plans to operate its Dreamliner aircraft to London Heathrow on a temporary basis from February 4th next year. The carrier has also confirmed that it will operate the aircraft on international routes to Tokyo, Lagos and Shanghai, before unveiling plans for domestic routes.
