First fastjet flight to Mbeya takes off
fastjet’s first flight from Dar es Salaam to Mbeya in south west Tanzania departed on schedule. Mbeya is the fifth Tanzanian destination in the fastjet network, which already includes Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.
fastjet prepares to go international
fastjet has announced it will commence international flight operations on October 18th. The low-cost airline’s first international flight, from Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport in Tanzania to Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa, is scheduled to depart at 09:15 on Friday morning and will arrive in South Africa at 11:45, local time.
Fastjet postpones first international route
Fastjet has postponed its first international route due to administrative delays. The new African low-cost carrier was due to commence its Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg service on Friday.
fastjet launches tickets on Mbeya route
fastjet has said tickets for its new domestic route from Dar es Salaam to Mbeya in Tanzania are now on sale. Flights to the new Songwe airport on fastjet’s signature Airbus A319 aircraft will commence on November 1st and initially operate three times a week.

African low-cost carrier fastjet has announced tickets for its first international route, between Tanzania and South Africa will go on sale this week. Flights from fastjet’s hub in Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg will be available to purchase from tomorrow, with fares from USD$100 (plus government taxes and charges).

fastjet and Tigo Tanzania have today confirmed a new partnership to offer mobile payments for fastjet tickets via Tigo Pesa. Speaking about the launch, fastjet chief commercial officer Richard Bodin said: “We continue to innovate at fastjet. After the incredible success of our initial mobile phone payment channel, we have been working hard with Tigo to bring this highly popular service to Tanzania’s consumers.”
Blockbuster deal sees fastjet move into South Africa
fastjet has completed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with local South African investment company Blockbuster, with the objective of fastjet operating services in South Africa by the end of May 2013. Blockbuster is associated with a number of high profile South Africans including, Edward Zuma and Yusuf Kajee.

fastjet has announced it has entered into a memorandum of understanding with leading technology company Planet Toccer, a Monaco private equity-backed group that invests in and develops US mobile game technology, and is developing patented technology solutions in creating mobile and web content supporting MMORPG sites and micro games on all global platforms.
fastjet links with Wirecard for card transactions
fastjet has announce the launch of its credit and debit card payment solution in co-operation with Wirecard, allowing consumers and travel agents from across the globe the ability to access and pay for seats of the rapidly growing fastjet route network. fastjet has partnered with credit card acquirer Wirecard to facilitate bookings using Visa and MasterCard.
Tanzania offers glowing praise for fastjet
fastjet, the first pan African low-cost carrier, has acknowledged recognition of its services by the Tanzanian government in a leading national Tanzanian newspaper today. fastjet has been operating in Tanzania since November 2012 in close cooperation with local transport authorities and government.

fastjet has launched a mobile payment solution with Tanzania’s leading telecommunications company Vodacom, thus enabling fastjet customers to buy airline tickets using their mobile phones. M-PESA - which takes its name from the M for mobile and Pesa, which is Swahili for money - provides the cash economies of East Africa with the ability to deposit or withdraw cash, send money, buy prepaid airtime, pay utility bills and now purchase fastjet tickets.
