Wyndham Hotels launches Super 8 brand in Germany

Wyndham Hotels launches Super 8 brand in Germany

Wyndham Hotel Group is launching its iconic Super 8 brand in Germany. The development agreement, which calls for a minimum of 10 Super 8 properties in the country over the next five years, was signed today.

On hand for the signing were Wyndham Hotel Group President and CEO Eric Danziger and Andreas Erben and Martin Klöble, managing directors of Tristar Hotel GmbH.  Tristar is a German hotel equity company collaborating with Colliers Hotel GmbH, an affiliate of Colliers International, which is a leader in global real estate services.

Danziger said, “This is an exciting time for our Super 8 brand as launching it in Germany will give us a greater presence in Europe and reinforce the brand’s position as the world’s largest economy lodging chain with over 2,200 hotels.  We will continue to pursue strategic opportunities to grow the Super 8 brand as well as other brands in our portfolio throughout EMEA.”

“The Super 8 brand fits perfectly with the growing demand for budget hotel accommodations in Germany—it is the right time to enter this market with an international brand,” said Erben. “We see significant opportunity for future growth and, to me, the partners involved make this a dream scenario. We are really happy to be working in partnership with Wyndham Hotel Group to introduce a new class of hotel to Germany.”

The launch of the brand in the country follows an announcement at the same event last year to launch the Super 8 brand in Poland, with a minimum of 10 hotels to be developed there in partnership with Colliers International and constructed by Unibep Group, a Polish construction company.

On the back of this news, Wyndham has unveiled its newly launched Super 8 guestroom concept. The room is innovatively built using modular construction, allowing for faster and more economical hotel development.  Consistent with the brand’s founding philosophy of providing consistent, friendly service and clean rooms at affordable rates, the room concept combines simplicity with comfort, ensuring the needs of the modern day traveller are catered for with features such as a USB charging station for iPods and iPhones as well as a large bed and walk-in shower.

Guests staying at Super 8 hotels can rest easy with the brand’s “8 Point Promise,” offering free in-room high-speed Internet access, free SuperStart® continental breakfast, free stays for kids who share an adult family member’s room, cable or satellite TV with free premium channels, large walk-in power showers, free coffee in the lobby, a guaranteed best available rate on super8.com and access to Wyndham Rewards®, the Wyndham Hotel Group loyalty program which allows guests the opportunity to earn points towards free nights, free flights or free gift vouchers.

The Super 8 brand was established in 1974 in South Dakota and was acquired by Wyndham Hotel Group in 1993. With over 2,200 properties throughout the U.S, Canada and China, the brand has more hotels than any other economy lodging chain in the world.
