easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, today confirmed the addition of a new route to Jersey from London Southend - just months after launching eight new destinations from the airport for the first time.

The inaugural flight to the most southerly Channel Island will take off on 2nd May 2012, with seats going on sale from Thursday 22nd September. Flights will operate four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), with fares staring from £21.99 (one way, including taxes).

The announcement comes following high demand for seats from easyJet’s newest base which went on sale in July to destinations including: Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Ibiza, Malaga and Mallorca – with sales outperforming other London Airports by up to three per cent.

From April 2012 easyJet will operate up to 70 flights a week from London Southend with fares starting from £23.99 (one way, including taxes). The airport is conveniently located within a minute’s walk from a new train station with quick links into London Liverpool Street and Stratford station.
