Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am set to hit the fairways
The 2012 Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am is set to see a host of top Hollywood names exchange the red carpet for green fairways as they gather for the inaugural event at Mission Hills • Haikou on Hainan Island.
Celebrity participants include Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, Oscar-nominated actor Andy Garcia, Canadian film and television actor Ryan Reynolds, American actress Minka Kelly and Korea’s top male movie star Jeong Woo-Seong.
They will join a host of luminaries from Hong Kong and mainland China in what is being billed as Asia’s biggest entertainment event of the year.
Talent from closer to home includes renowned film directors Feng Xiaogang, He Ping and Zhao Baogang; Chinese actors Wang Zhiwen, Zhang Jiayi and Sun Nan; plus, movie stars Eric Tsang, Simon Yam, Michael Wong, and Michael Miu.
Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen, the greatest action heroine Michelle Yeoh, Leon Lai, Gigi Leung, Charlie Young, Simon Yam, Twins and Jennifer Tse will attend the event activities too.
Donnie Yen Ji-Dan is Hong Kong’s top action star.
He is also the event ambassador of the event.
He is widely credited for popularising the traditional martial arts style known as Wing Chun.
He played the role of Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in the 2008 film Ip Man, which was a box office success.
Yen is very much looking forward to attend the event since it is the first time he went to Mission Hills Haikou and there will be a great line up of Chinese and international talents there.
Ken Chu, chairman and chief executive of Mission Hills Group said: “Mission Hills is about more than just golf.
“What we’re doing is creating general entertainment for people, so whether you’re into film, celebrities, golf, Kung Fu or just sport in general, there’s going to be something for you.”
From the world of golf, the field will boast no less than three major tournament winners in Darren Clarke, Ian Woosnam and Tony Jacklin, as well as four-time PGA tour winner and current Players Champion Matt Kuchar.
Mission Hills was recently voted Asia’s Leading Golf Resort by the World Travel Awards.
