Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco welcomes new General Manager

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Donald Bowman as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco. His appointment commenced 1 November 2012. Mr. Bowman first joined Mandarin Oriental in 1997 and has held a variety of hotel management positions within the Group, including at Elbow Beach, Bermuda; Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco; and the former Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii. Mr. Bowman was also instrumental in the successful launch and positioning of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas as Hotel Manager from 2008 to 2011. He left the Group in 2011 to take up the role of General Manager opening Ian Schrager’s new hotel, PUBLIC Chicago, before moving back to California for his most recent role as General Manager of Carmel Valley Ranch in Carmel, California.

Donald brings a wealth of experience, having worked with the Group for over 13 years. He will indeed prove to be an asset as we reposition the hotel following its extensive renovation and celebrate 25 years of operation in the city.”

Mr. Bowman serves as Chief Operating Officer on the board of the Ironheart Group, which supports cardiac charities worldwide through athletic fundraising initiatives. In his downtime, Mr. Bowman is an avid runner having run eight marathons.  He also enjoys squash, triathlon, golf, hiking, cooking and adventure travel.
