Lufthansa for iPad - A new mobile services experience

CLANMO customer Lufthansa consistently drives the extension of its mobile service portfolio. This now allows Lufthansa passengers to use the Apple tablet to choose and book their flights from among the global route network. During development, the mobile specialists of the Cologne-based agency CLANMO paid particular attention to intuitive usability and individual experience of numerous services concerning flying.

“The user can discover the entire Lufthansa route network on an interactive world map and call up extensive information about the destinations around the world at the touch of a finger.

“The start and destination of the flight can be chosen on the world map as easily and booked by tapping.

“With this new type of operating concept adapted to the iPad, the iPad app sets completely new standards for mobile flight bookings,” says Marcus Casey, E-Commerce and Mobile Director for Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

Apart from intuitive usability, CLANMO paid particular attention to dynamic contents in terms of Lufthansa customers when developing the iPad app. This allows users in the German market to find out about the newest offers. Apart from the usual mobile services such as flight plans, statuses and check-in, the iPad app also provides a fascinating insight into the world of Lufthansa.

Users can expect 3D animations, videos and interactive specials such as the 360° round view in the cockpit of the new Airbus A380.

“For Deutsche Lufthansa, the iPad opens up an additional sales channel for its flights as well as a new form of brand staging. The app makes the enormous route network literally tangible, providing a haptic experience when booking flights. That’s not only comfortable, but also fun,” says CLANMO managing director Joachim Bader.
