International Olympic Committee concludes fourth Rio 2016™ project review

The fourth Rio 2016™ Olympic Games Project Review update to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ended on Wednesday, November 9, after two days of meetings on the various aspects concerning the preparations for the event.

The presentations delivered on Tuesday, November 8, focused on aspects related to the Organising Committee, such as governance, human resources, sports, National Olympic Committees services and the Olympic Family.

“The IOC team was pleased with the clarification provided in areas such as accommodation plus the Main Press Centre (MPC) and the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), and believes that we have taken important steps to continue moving forward with the Games preparations,” said Nuzman.

Also on Tuesday, the Chair of the International Olympic Committee’s Coordination Commission for the Rio 2016™ Games, Nawal El Moutawakel; the IOC Olympic Games Executive Director, Gilbert Felli; and the organisation’s Sports Director, Christophe Dubi; in addition to the President and the CEO of the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman and Leonardo Gryner, were invited by the Rio mayor, Eduardo Paes, to visit the Grota Funda tunnel and attend the opening of the second benchmark station for the Transoeste BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line.

Project Review updates between the IOC and Games organisers are held two to three times per year. The next Project Review update will be held March next year.
