Across the three days, visitors can explore four signature strands of the festival:
Colours of Parade‚ a grand cultural procession through Merdeka Square combining music,danceand storytelling, performed by contingentsrepresentingevery corner of Malaysia.
Colours of Flavour‚ a showcase of Malaysian street food and regional delicacies, from Penang hawker classics to Sarawakian specialities.
Colours of Culture, traditional performances and community activities reflecting Malaysia’s multicultural make-up.
Colours of Art, handicrafts and live demonstrations from artisans working in batik,weavingand traditional craft.
The centrepiece of the festival is the Colours of Parade on 25 July, when Merdeka Square ‚ the site of Malaysia’s independence declaration in 1957‚ is transformed into a stage for one of the country’s largest cultural showcases. First held in 1999, Citrawarna has become a fixture of Malaysia’s cultural calendar - it’s a festival with history.
