Glenmere, New Ultra-Luxe Hotel, Opens in the Hudson Valley

The gates of Glenmere, the 1911 home of the Goelet family nestled in the rolling hills of the lower Hudson Valley, are open once again as a new premier luxury hotel.

Offering just 19 rooms and suites, Glenmere today offers discerning visitors escape, exclusivity and exceptional service. Sitting atop 150 landscaped acres in Chester, NY, it has been completely restored to offer the finest modern luxury in the exquisite surroundings of the original Italianate mansion. Guest rooms are available for reservation now, and range in price from $550 to $3,500 per night. Glenmere is less than 50 miles from New York City.

Designed by famed architects Carrere & Hastings, Glenmere was originally fashioned as a 35-room Tuscan villa with a central open cortile and majestic interior details including marbled column porticos and sweeping interior and exterior staircases. A painstaking restoration now returns Glenmere to its original magnificence.

Glenmere’s accommodations include deluxe and superior bedrooms, junior suites, and five incomparable premium suites. No two are alike, all are unforgettable. One-of-kind furnishings, sumptuous beds, and fine antiques combine with spectacular art from a private collection to create eclectic environments for relaxation and pleasure. Most rooms have working fireplaces, and many offer terraces with open views of Glenmere’s grounds, gardens and the lake and hills beyond.

Among the premier accommodations at Glenmere is The Penthouse. Private elevator access leads guests to a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite designed for living, with three fireplaces (including one in the master bath), a large formal living room, dining area, butler’s bar and expansive private terrace. The large rooms flow together easily, creating an overall feeling that is comfortable, intimate and contemporary.

Accommodations also include the Goelet suite, offering three bedrooms, three baths and three fireplaces, the Ogden suite, with its intimate private garden, and the Duchess Suite, with commanding views and perfect Juliette balcony at the front of the mansion. Junior Suites and Guest Rooms all offer the same level of comfort and detail.

All guest accommodations feature custom-designed Italian linens, sumptuous marble baths with heated floors, and state-of-the art AV equipment, including blue tooth compatible flat-screen TVs, DVD players, iPod docking stations and high speed internet access.

The Supper Room is Glenmere’s intimate dining room for unforgettable evenings. Candle-lit tables sparkle among a collection of antiques and modern furnishings, surrounded by custom-made, hand-painted eglomise panels depicting the hills of Tuscany. Full bar service, light lunch fare and informal evening meals can be enjoyed by the light of the fireplace in the Frog’s End Tavern.
