Garuda Indonesia links with Liverpool FC

Garuda Indonesia and Liverpool Football Club have signed a Global Official Airline partnership, which will run for three seasons until 2015.

This exclusive deal sees Garuda take over as official airline for the club, which means whenever Liverpool tours to destinations served by the airline - especially in Asia and Australia - it will enlist the services of Garuda Indonesia, as its official airline.

The signatories were Garuda Indonesia president, Emirsyah Satar, Garuda Indonesia executive vice president for marketing & sales, Elisa Lumbantoruan, managing director of Liverpool FC, Ian Ayre, and financial director of Liverpool FC, Philip Nash.

The ceremony was also witnessed by legendary Liverpool star, Ian Rush.

The partnership programme is part of Garuda Indonesia’s Quantum Leap program to transform the airline into a global company.

The agreement offers Garuda Indonesia the opportunity to carry out a marketing communication campaign by using some of the Liverpool FC’s facilities, such as the LED boards positioned around the edge of the pitch at Anfield stadium during home games which will be broadcasted on top TV networks to international viewers all over the world.

In addition, the partnership gives Garuda Indonesia access to reach ten million Liverpool fans through Liverpool’s official Facebook account and one million Liverpool’s Twitter followers.

Satar explained: “We are very pleased to join up with Liverpool Football Club.

“They are one of England’s best football clubs and is already a well-known global brand, with fans and supporters all over the world, including in Indonesia.”
