Online Corporation Travel Expert Joins GetThere in Germany

GetThere
today announced that Ludger Bals (Pictured) will lead the companyå‘s efforts in Germany, Switzerland and neighbouring countries.  The appointment represents a continued effort by GetThere to offer specific market expertise to local companies, and global corporations that are extending their online programs into the region.

“GetThere’s focus is to provide corporations with the best online technology, as well as the local expertise to help them most effectively deploy that technology.  Ludger has an extensive background in corporate travel management in Germany, and is an ideal candidate to help local and global companies capture the rewards of online travel booking solutions in this market,” said Richard Adams, vice president of GetThere Europe.

Since 2000 Bals has served as director of business solutions for iFAO AG, where he focused on programmes to promote usage of online travel systems in corporations, often working through major travel management companies and other distributors.  From 1998 to 2000 he was director of corporate development with CWT Solutions Group based in Paris.  Previously, he served as director of corporate development for Carlson Wagonlit Travel Germany, as a member of the executive board, and as head of quality management.

p>In the seven years prior to CWT, Bals served as senior management consultant for Computer Sciences Corporation in Germany.  He is a certified European quality manager, and received a diploma in Economic Geography, Communication Science and Public Law at the Wilhelms University in Münster, Germany.
