Sheraton Grand Resort Top of the Shop

PRNewswire PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahamas Nov. 11 :

The Sheraton Grand Resort Paradise Island, the well-known 340-room resort
in the heart of Paradise Island, has been named one of the Top 25 Resorts
in the Caribbean/Atlantic region by Conde Nast Traveler magazine`s 2003
Readers` Choice Awards, published in the November issue.
According to the publication, which has a circulation of more than
700,000, more than 32,000 of its readers voted in its annual poll. The
eight- part surveys were collected and tabulated by Mediamark Research,
Inc., of New York. Categories included airlines, car rental agencies,
cities, hotels/resorts, and islands.

Each of the candidates, the magazine said, was rated by pre-set criteria
on a five-point scale, and the Sheraton Grand Resort finished with a 78.3%
rating, meaning that percentage of readers voting rated the resort either
excellent or very good.
“We`re delighted to have been ranked in the Top 25,” said Alfred Gorlick,
CHA, Vice President and General Manager of the 14-story resort. “Our
entire staff has worked extremely hard over the years to maintain a
leadership position in the hospitality industry, and being recognized for
that hard work by one of the world`s leading travel publications is a
testament to the Sheraton Grand having some of the finest personnel in the
tourism field.”
Gorlick also said all Bahamians should take pride in the Sheraton Grand
being rated in the Top 25 in this international competition. “If it were
not for the support we continually receive from residents, the private
sector business community and the Ministry of Tourism, we certainly would
have had a more difficult time being named in the Top 25,” he added.

The Readers` Choice Awards was the cover story of the monthly publication.
The article said that the poll is “the most rigorous appraisal you will
find” and that the competition to be included in the awards program “is
intense.” Conde Nast Traveler has been conducting its annual Readers`
Choice Awards since 1988.
