Parisi Design Completes First Phase

PRNewswire DEL MAR, Calif. Nov. 12 :

The team at Del Mar-based Parisi Design has completed their first phase of
La Costa Resort`s $140 million renovation. The first phase encompassed the
redesign of the property`s 164,000+ square foot Clubhouse, including the
lobby, bar, restaurant, and registration area. Phase two of the project,
which includes the Spa and ballroom, will be unveiled later this month.

La Costa, known for its legendary guests, championship golf course and
nationally televised tennis tournaments, has been a jewel in the crown of
Southern California hospitality for more than 40 years. Originally
designed in a style reminiscent of early California architecture, La Costa
began an extensive renovation of the entire property late last year,
including upgrades and redesigns of all common areas, guest rooms and
suites, restaurant, spa, grounds and villas.

Parisi began its work at La Costa with the Clubhouse. KSL Resorts, the
property`s owner, requested the team design a warm and relaxing space
reminiscent of the Spanish Colonial movement in California architecture.
Parisi finished this space, the resort`s primary entry point, with accent
furniture, accessories and art to achieve a comfortable, at-home feeling
reminiscent of a luxurious Rancho California hacienda. The team used art
and artifacts, targeting each of the senses, to enhance the guests`
overall La Costa experience.

Parisi Design was then commissioned to create, from concept and
completion, the new Ballroom. The 26,000 square foot space will open to
the public in November as the “newest and largest ballroom in San Diego`s
North County.” With the use of air walls, the ballroom can also be broken
into six separate function rooms. The new rustic California design
features hand-hewn beamed ceilings with lighted coffers, grand arched
entrances graced with giant hand painted murals, custom field and border
Durkin carpets inspired by antique Spanish tile, massive six-foot,
hand-forged, wrought iron, and tiered chandeliers with complementary wall
sconces. The newly designed Spa, a significant part of La Costa`s rich
history, was redesigned with new artwork and accent accessories including
a custom tile wall mural commissioned by Parisi.

KSL selected Parisi Design for its distinctive ability to resist the
“any-town America” trends. Parisi designs around the idea that most hotels
and restaurants subject guests to intense hustle and bustle. Parisi`s team
aims to design pockets of easy, relaxing areas using organic color palates
infused with ancient artifacts that preserve a sense of place and
character amid the sprawl, clutter and homogenization that has degraded so
many hospitality destinations. Parisi`s cache of accomplishments in the
hospitality industry include the interiors of Sami Ladeki`s FRESH
Restaurant in La Jolla and the fashionable Hotel Parisi, which won an
Orchid Award in 2000 for “Best Commercial Design” and was featured on
Conde Nast Traveler magazine`s list of “Top Small Hotels in the United
States.”
In the next phase of renovation, Parisi will create the interior packages
for the Villas at La Costa, a time-share condominium project on the
property. The 200 one, two and three bedroom villas will be designed in
the same early Rancho California style. The Villas, ranging in size from
800-1,100 square feet, will feature many signature Parisi design elements
with a variety of art and furniture packages to select from.

Del Mar-based Parisi Design is an award-winning interior design firm
focused on creating environments that blend grace with surprise. With the
leadership of company President Denis Pastor, Parisi`s design teams
translate concept into three-dimensional reality by using unexpected
textures, colors, lighting and custom pieces that guide the eye to various
focal points. Specializing in luxury hospitality and residential design,
Parisi`s business enterprise also includes a signature furniture line, a
Sculpture Garden & Art Gallery that represents some of the nation`s
premier and emerging talents, and the Shiho Center. For more information
