New Restaurants at Ameristar Kansas City

Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City today announced the opening of two new restaurants and an entertainment venue as part of its ongoing $30 million renovation and enhancement project. The Great Plains Cattle Co. steakhouse, the Falcon Diner and Depot #9 Saloon and Stage are the latest new dining and entertainment venues to open at Ameristar Kansas City, complementing other recent improvements to the property’s casino and land-based amenities.

“We are pleased to mark another milestone in our continuing enhancement of Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City,” said Craig H. Neilsen, Ameristar’s President and CEO. “Over the past 18 months, we have made significant upgrades to the facility, including the conversion to state-of-the-art gaming equipment, the consolidation of two casinos into a single larger gaming area, and the construction of the new 2,650-space parking garage which provides better access to the casino. Combined with all the other improvements, we believe that these new restaurants will help further solidify our position as the premier gaming and entertainment facility in the region.”

The Great Plains Cattle Co. is a 140-seat steakhouse complete with a private dining room, fireplaces and a separate 72-seat lounge. Commemorating a turn-of-the-century steakhouse, this restaurant combines the style of early frontier towns with a late 19th century Midwestern stockyard district. Guests can enjoy upscale dining in this rustic, casual setting with distinctive menu items including char-grilled steaks, buffalo rib-eye, and appetizers such as fried rattlesnake.

The 235-seat Falcon Diner redefines the American diner with an atmosphere that reflects the Art Deco modernist movement and embodies the spirit of the typical downtown eatery. The diner serves down-home breakfasts and classic lunch and dinner selections, from early in the morning until late at night, seven days a week. Guests looking for a quick bite can purchase fresh-baked goods to-go at the diner`s front bakery counter.

Depot #9, an 88-seat entertainment venue, opened December 17. It hosts local and regional bands nightly, playing live blues, rock and country. Depot #9 is connected to the historic Pullman railroad car near the entrance from the porte cochere and takes its design from the train depots of the late 19th century.

A new food court will soon feature three national franchise outlets. Burger King, recognized for great flame-broiled burgers, is currently open. Two additional outlets are targeted to open within a month: Sbarros Italian Eatery, a family-style Italian cafeteria restaurant known for its freshly made, hand-stretched pizza; and Cold Stone Creamery, with premium ice cream, yogurt and Italian sorbet custom made to order.

“We are delighted to offer our guests more selection for dining and entertainment,” said Ameristar Casino Kansas City General Manager Dave Albrecht. “Whether it’s a casual meal at the Falcon Diner, an upscale steakhouse experience at Great Plains Cattle Co., an evening of live music in Depot #9, or one of our wide variety of other restaurants, we offer outstanding dining and entertainment choices for everyone.”

Renovations at Ameristar Kansas City are continuing with the reconfiguration of the layout of the casino floor to provide a more spacious and exciting gaming area. This phase of the project includes the addition of new escalators in the center of the casino to improve access to the second level, the relocation and renovation of the high-limit slot area and the poker room, and the addition of new slot machines to bring the property’s total slot count to approximately 3,200.
