Marriott International To Manage New Hotel In Dalian, China

Marriott International (MAR / NYSE) has been named to manage a new 343-room hotel that is currently under construction in Dalian, China, and is scheduled to open in early 2002. It is owned by Dalian Jinzuo Estate Development Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Jin Ce Enterprise Co., Ltd., a Shenzhen-based conglomerate that has investments in real estate, stock brokerage services and import/export trading.

When opened, the hotel will be named the Dalian Marriott Hotel. It is part of a mixed-use development project that will also include 122,000 square meters of office and retail space. The project is located on Zhong Shan Road in Dalian`s city center, within walking distance of the Dalian Railway Station. Surrounding the site are office buildings, department stores and retail shops. Zhoushuizi International Airport is located approximately 14 kilometers northwest of the hotel.

For dining and entertainment, the Dalian Marriott Hotel will have three restaurants and two lounges, including a Champions Sports Bar. Recreational amenities will include a swimming pool and health club. Other amenities will include a business center, lobby concierge desk, gift shop, laundry and valet service.

For conferences and social events, the Dalian Marriott Hotel will offer 1,076 square meters of space, including two 356-square-meter ballrooms, each divisible into two sections, three individual meeting rooms and a boardroom.

Elsewhere in China, the Marriott International lodging portfolio currently consists of 19 hotels spanning six lodging brands, including its Marriott Hotels, Resorts & Suites, Renaissance Hotels, Resorts & Suites, New World and Ramada International Hotels in the quality tier, Marriott Executive Apartments in the extended stay category, and Courtyard by Marriott select service category.


Four additional hotels are under construction in China:


- the 317-room Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongquio, scheduled to open later this year.
- the 369-room JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai, due to open next year
- the 237-unit Shanghai Marriott Executive Apartments, also due to open next year
- the 400-room Haikou Marriott Hotel, due to open in 2002.
