Internet Pictures Corporation (Nasdaq: IPIX), a leader in global visual content and infrastructure for the Internet, announced today that it has been selected as the visual content solutions provider for Continental Airlines, the fifth largest airline in the United States. Under the agreement, iPIX will capture and manage visual content of new aircraft and other key features of Continental’s award-winning airline service.
Using iPIX’s visual content solution, the company will deliver a compelling visual experience to users of Continental’s Web site (www.continental.com) that will allow viewers to “step inside” the image, looking in any direction, from left to right, even floor to ceiling, and feel as if they are actually in the picture. “iPIX visual content is critical for businesses in the travel industry, because it allows customers to get the best possible feeling for the travel choices they’re making. In this case, people will see the unparalleled quality of Continental’s new Boeing 777, and soon-to-arrive 767,” said Internet Pictures Chairman and CEO, Jim Phillips.
The Continental virtual tours will offer iPIX images of Continental’s new Boeing 777 aircraft and its BusinessFirst premium cabin. The Boeing 777, the newest and most advanced jetliner in the world, was specially designed to enhance passenger comfort and convenience. iPIX images of the 777 let visitors explore the BusinessFirst and Economy cabins. Continental’s BusinessFirst is a distinctive international business class on 777, 757, and DC-10 aircraft that offers a custom-crafted sleeper seat with adjustable headrest, electronic legrest, footrest, lumbar support, a personal entertainment system built into the armrest console that features personal video monitors and laptop connections, and an elegant meal service. The BusinessFirst cabin tour also showcases the 777’s wide aisles, extra legroom, and spacious overhead compartments.
Another Continental iPIX? Virtual Tour explores the Houston Presidents Club. Continental’s Presidents Club offers the busy traveler personalized service and a relaxing oasis in over 20 private Clubrooms; members also have access to over 40 affiliated lounges worldwide. The iPIX tours allow visitors to tour different areas of the Presidents Club, such as the Business Center-which offers individual computer connection and phone stations, copy and fax service, conference rooms, and more—even a sophisticated bar lounge.
Kerwin McKenzie, Manager of online services for Continental Airlines, emphasizes that iPIX tours offer a whole new way of experiencing information electronically, especially via the Web. “With iPIX Tours, our passengers can see for themselves how this luxury jet, as well as our Presidents Club, offer unprecedented comfort for the business traveler,” said McKenzie. “Continental Airlines has the youngest jet fleet in the airline industry, and we’re excited about this new opportunity to showcase these state-of-the-art planes on our Web site with iPIX visual content.”
