Year-End Signing Of Seven International Agreements Sets Record For Days Inns Worldwide

A year-end agreement added the Dominican Republic to the Days Inns Worldwide Inc. system, bringing to seven the total number of international master license contracts signed for the year  a brand record.

Days Inn master license agreements were signed this year for Italy, Jordan, Korea, Taiwan, Morocco, Egypt and the Dominican Republic.


Jean Marie NGore-Traore, who plans to open four hotels by 2006 in the cities of Santo Domingo and Porta Plata, signed the master license contract for the Dominican Republic, a nation that occupies two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean, east of Haiti. This is the second Caribbean country on the Days Inn system. Puerto Rico was added in 1996.


“We are excited about our record international growth and very pleased that the addition of the Dominican Republic will enlarge our presence in the Caribbean,” said Joe Kane, Days Inns Worldwide president and chief executive officer. “The Dominican Republic will join our other locations in offering high-quality lodging at affordable price to value-conscious travelers worldwide.”


Days Inns Worldwide has international agreements to market the brand in 30 countries. They are Argentina, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Taiwan, Uruguay, United Kingdom, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

In addition to the United States and Puerto Rico, Days Inn hotels are currently open in Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Jordan, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom and Uruguay.


The Days Inns Worldwide system includes over 1,900 properties representing nearly 162,000 rooms. It hosts 38 million guests annually and averages 200,000 guests every night. Thirty years ago Cecil B. Day, founder of Days Inns, created the economy segment, and today consumer surveys, including D.K. Shifflet & Associates, still rank Days Inn hotels first in the economy sector.
