Abuja Goes Non-Stop

British Airways has introduced non-stop services between London Gatwick and Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria, three times a week.

The existing services to Abuja via Lagos have been replaced by new non-stop flights and will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

All three non-stop services will be operated by Boeing 777s, the most modern aircraft in the British Airways fleet.

Commenting on the new schedule, Alan Burnett, British Airways’ Area General Manager, Africa, said: “We are delighted to offer our customers a more convenient schedule between London and Abuja. This new, dedicated service will cut journey times by two hours.

“This is a significant step forward as Nigeria’s federal capital is an important political and business centre. The new schedule will help meet the strong demand on the London-Abuja route.”

In addition, British Airways is also adding four one-off services in conjunction with Nigeria Airways on the London Heathrow-Lagos route over Christmas and New Year to meet extra seasonal demand.

The new schedule will be phased in over the next three weeks.
