Six Continents Hotels Appoints Stevan Porter As Chief Operating Officer

Six Continents Hotels, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, announced today that Stevan Porter has been named Chief Operating Officer for the Americas region and a member of the Management Committee. In this role, Porter will have strategic and tactical responsibility for the company’s owned and managed estate throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America and will report directly to John Sweetwood, President, Six Continents Hotels/Americas. He will assume his new role on November 5 and will be based in Atlanta.

“He is recognized as one of the premier operators in the industry, and we are delighted to bring that expertise to Six Continents Hotels,” said John Sweetwood. “Steve’s presence will be key to our plans to significantly expand our company owned and managed estate.”
“Steve’s extensive management experience across all types of hotels will be invaluable in his new role. Since our owned and managed portfolio includes Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Crowne Plaza and Inter-Continental hotels, we need a COO who understands the dynamics of each of those segments, and Steve has that scope of experience,” added Sweetwood.
Prior to joining Six Continents Hotels, Porter was senior vice president, Hilton Hotels Corporation and executive vice president - hotel operations. Before joining Hilton, Porter was executive vice president for Promus Hotel Corporation where he was responsible for overseeing the management of nearly 350 hotels and more than 40,000 employees.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Porter is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) and received his masters of business administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He resides with wife, Frances also a Miami University (Ohio) graduate and younger son Charlie in La Canada, CA. He also has an older son - Steve, Jr. - a student at Miami University (Ohio).
