Winner of Northwest Airlines’ First WorldPerks Online Auction Headed to the Ryder Cup

Northwest Airlines announced today that Cory Sutherland of Eden Prairie, Minn., is the winner of its first WorldPerks online auction. Sutherland placed winning bid of 505,000 WorldPerks miles and won a trip for two to the prestigious Ryder Cup Gold Tournament.
The Ryder Cup will occur at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., September 22-26, 1999. The tournament features competition between top players from the United States and Europe. David Duval, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III and Mark O’Meara will be among this year’s participants.

“As a golf fan, I am extremely excited by the opportunity to go to the Ryder Cup and watch some of the most talented players in the world up close. As a parent, I’m very glad that my bid will benefit children participating in Northwest Airlines’ KidCares program,” said Sutherland.

The KidCares program enables children to fly free and access medical care not available in their community.

Sutherland is a WorldPerks Gold Elite member, who has traveled more than 705,154 miles with Northwest Airlines. The trip for two includes roundtrip airfare for two, 5 nights accommodations, all meals, ground transportation, two rounds of golf, tickets to the Ryder Cup and a souvenir gift bag. Sutherland plans to bring his brother, Jock Sutherland of Edina, to the tournament.

The 52,000 people of Northwest Airlines are dedicated to providing convenient, reliable and consistent air transportation around the world.
