Worldspan Introduces Industry`s First Global Fare by Rule Solution

Worldspan today announced the
introduction of Worldspan Fare by Rule, a new dynamic pricing solution that
utilizes ATPCO Automated Rules Category 25 to create new fares by filing
discounts off existing published and private airfares or filing zonal pricing
programs in the ATPCO system.
Worldspan Fare by Rule enables Worldspan
subscribers and corporate customers worldwide to offer travelers a wider-than-
ever selection of special-value fares, such as discounted, corporate,
negotiated, Web fares, coupon and zone fares.  Worldspan is the first global
distribution system (GDS) to offer global Fare by Rule processing.

“With Worldspan Fare by Rule, airlines around the world can streamline the
filing of public and private fares, automate previously unpublished paper-
based pricing programs, eliminate manual input into distribution systems, and
significantly reduce filing costs,” commented Vela McClam-Mitchell, vice
president and general manager—Worldwide Travel Supplier Services for
Worldspan.  “In addition, our corporate customers and distribution partners-
both e-commerce sites and traditional travel agencies-will benefit from the
automation of contract fares and from having one automated source for fare
display and pricing of all their published and private fares.”

“Worldspan Fare by Rule offers travel agencies, online travel sites and
corporate accounts greater access to more of our best value fares, while
giving carriers the flexibility, efficiency and control they require,” said
Tom Bach, vice president—Pricing & Yield Management for Northwest Airlines,
one of the first carriers to participate in Fare by Rule processing from
Worldspan.  “Northwest is a strong advocate of Fare by Rule, and we are
especially pleased Worldspan is able to provide this innovative solution on a
worldwide basis.”

Fare by Rule fares are created in real time, available immediately for
sale and ticketing, and support rule category overrides by Base Fare, Fare by
Rule, or both.  For seamless fare display and comprehensive pricing options,
Fare by Rule fares are combined with published fares during fare selection,
and are also integrated with Negotiated Fares Category 35 and Worldspan Power
Products.

In addition, Worldspan`s exclusive Routing 9999 supports zone fare
creation, eliminating the need for airlines to file separate routings for zone
fares.  Worldspan Fare by Rule automatically searches for any published
routing in the market to validate itinerary routing.

Worldspan is working closely with participating carriers worldwide to
phase in Category 25 processing.  To date the new solution has been activated
for Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines.  Worldspan
is currently accepting Fare by Rule filings from other Worldspan participating
carriers.
