American Eagle Appoints New Counsel

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Eagle has announced Kate Soled will assume the role of general counsel for the airline and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of American Eagle’s legal work.

Immediately prior to joining American Airlines as Associate General Counsel in June 2001, Soled served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources and General Counsel at Trans World Airlines, Inc. in St. Louis. She was instrumental in implementing the asset sale of TWA to American Airlines by negotiating the asset purchase agreement and managing the bankruptcy process.

“Kate’s prior experience, both at American and TWA, will be a great asset,” said American Eagle President Peter M. Bowler. “I’m delighted to have someone of her depth and breadth of experience in this role.”

Soled began her career in the airline industry in 1992 as a senior attorney with TWA. She was later promoted to Corporate Secretary and in 1994 became vice president responsible for legal affairs in such areas as finance, securities, contracts, advertising, labor relations and benefits as well as corporate governance, prior to her appointment as senior vice president and general counsel for TWA in 1998.

In addition to her extensive experience in the airline industry, Soled spent three years at Clapp & Eisenberg, a general practice law firm in New Jersey. She also served as a judicial clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey. Soled earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School and has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
