FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines will allow customers whose plans are disrupted by today’s power outage in the Northeast and parts of Canada to reschedule their plans without penalty.
American said dozens of American and American Eagle flights had been affected by a power outage in the Northeast affecting operations at all five New York-area airports (JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, White Plains and Islip), and at Buffalo and Syracuse in New York state, as well as operations in Cleveland, Detroit, and Toronto and Ottawa in Canada.
American said flights inbound to these airports would likely be diverted to other airports. The airline said others have been held on the ground pending more information. Check AA.com for updated status on incoming or departing flights. Updated press releases will also be posted on www.amrcorp.com.
